EERSTERUST TIME BANK – TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. Purpose

The Eersterust Time Bank is a community-based initiative designed to facilitate the exchange of time and skills among residents of Eersterust. It promotes mutual aid, inclusion, dignity, and economic resilience through a non-monetary system of time credits.

2. Eligibility

To participate in the Eersterust Time Bank, you must:

• Be a resident of Eersterust or actively involved in local development initiatives.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Agree to abide by these Terms and all related community guidelines.

3. Joining and Membership

• All members must register on the the Eersterust Time Bank platform.
• All members must be a member of the Eersterust Community
• Each member will receive a personal time credit account.
• Membership is free of charge.
• You may cancel your membership at any time by requesting deactivation.

 

4. Time Credits

• One hour of service = one time credit, or unless agreement upon by the seller and buyer
• All time and contributions are valued equally
• Credits can be earned, saved, spent, or donated.
• Time credits have no monetary value and cannot be sold, exchanged for money, or used commercially.

 

5. Service Exchange Rules

• All exchanges must be voluntary, respectful, and agreed upon in advance.
• Services must be non-commercial and aimed at helping individuals or the community.
• Both parties must log the time exchange on the Eersterust Time Bank.
• Members are responsible for providing accurate descriptions and honest feedback.

 

6. Safety and Conduct

All members agree to:

• Treat others with respect, fairness, and honesty.
• Only offer services you are capable and legally permitted to provide.
• Avoid unsafe tasks or anything that may cause harm or violate laws.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect others’ privacy.
• Report any issues, conflicts, or inappropriate behaviour to the the Eersterust Time Bank.

 

7. Liability

• The Eersterust Time Bank, Eersterust Community Portal, MARRIAN GROUP, LINAM CONSULTING, DIVERSITON, or LINAM HOSTING are not liable for any personal injury, damage, or loss resulting from any time bank exchange.
• All exchanges are made at members’ own risk.
• Members are encouraged to use common sense, communicate clearly, and report any problems or unsafe situations.

 

8. Suspension or Removal

We reserve the right to:

• Suspend or terminate any account found to be misusing the system.
• Investigate any complaints or misuse.
• Take appropriate action to protect the integrity and safety of the community.
• Suspend or terminate any account that is not part of the Eersterust Community (Residing in Eersterust). 
• Request a proof of address if necessary.
• Implement any measures to ensure the committees safety and security using the Eersterust Community timebank

9. Prohibited and Illegal Use

The Eersterust Time Bank may not be used for any unlawful, unethical, or harmful activity.

This includes (but is not limited to):

• Offering services that violate South African law or local regulations
• Distributing prohibited items or engaging in criminal conduct
• Facilitating fraud, scams, or misrepresentation of services
• Using the platform to harass, threaten, or harm others
• Any member found to be engaging in illegal activities will be immediately suspended and reported to the appropriate authorities.

 

9. Use of the the Eersterust Time Bank.

Members agree to:

• Use the the Eersterust Time Bank only for legitimate time bank purposes.
• Keep your account secure (do not share your login).
• Not abuse messaging features or spam other members.
• Use respectful language in public profiles and messages.

 

10. Privacy and Data Protection

• We collect only necessary information to manage your membership.
• Your data will be used solely for time bank purposes and will not be sold or shared outside the project without your consent.
• You can request to access or delete your data at any time.

 

11. Amendments

These Terms and Conditions may be updated periodically. Members will be notified via email or platform message. Continued use of the Time Bank constitutes agreement to the updated terms.

12. Termination of the Eersterust Time Bank

In the unlikely event that the Eersterust Time Bank is required to terminate:

• A formal notice period of one month will be provided to all registered members.
• During this notice period, a vote will be conducted among all registered members to determine whether the Eersterust Time Bank should continue operating.
• If the decision is made to proceed with closure, the Marrian Group will extend an offer to the Eersterust community to assume responsibility for the operation and management of the Time Bank.
• Should the community decline to take over the Time Bank, all service credits will be forfeited. Service credits held by members—including those earned, exchanged, or saved—will no longer hold any value or be redeemable once the Time Bank is closed. Members are therefore encouraged to utilize their available credits prior to the closure date. Please note that there will be no reimbursements, monetary compensation, or conversion of credits into cash or other financial instruments. As a community-based initiative, the Time Bank operates on principles of mutual exchange and trust, and its credits do not carry any legal or financial equivalence outside the system.
